What an incredible weekend, filled with memories. We attended a Returning Warriors Conference hosted by the NAVY. Incredible, isn't even the correct word to describe it. We met amazing men and women, were motivated by fantastic speakers, a top-shelf program, food to die for (literally while trying to run it off), and the lodging, four star. I am ready to go back! When is the next one?
Why was this weekend so special for us? In February of 2008, our family met Jason at this Marriott to say good-bye a second time as he left for Iraq. See previous blog post for details. He had been wounded during training exercises, thus being delayed in heading to Iraq. The good part was, we could see him one more time. The above picture was taken when we met in 2008 and almost four years later in the same location for this fabulous workshop weekend. Very special indeed.
The RWW Weekend was phenomenal. Our table was made up of men and women that shared the same stories. Their stories resonated with us. We thank them for their bravery and openness. Our facilitators were generous and kind. Filled with compassion as they led our tabletop exercises. I met a special lady, Mara. She is full of grace and poise. A lady who truly knows what it means to be a NAVY wife. She is an exemplary role model of what a NAVY wife should be. And, best part of all she is my neighbor!
Jason and I both came home with a new vigor. A pep in our step if you will. We are ready to take on life's adventures in a whole new way. After all, we rock. (Thanks, Chip).
