Jason's First Convoy Trip

Yesterday I took my first convoy trip out into the Red Zone.
We had to take a trip up north for a little way and visit
a warehousing depot. It was a little tense, as we were all dressed up in
our battle gear, riding in up-armored vehicles, and driving like we
owned the road. But interesting to see the areas outside the IZ.

We had one minor glitch, right at the end. My buddy, who was driving our
vehicle hit a large hole in the road and something got damaged. We
started seeing and smelling black smoke, and the Landcruiser began to
shut down - until we coasted with no power. This happened about 400
yards before we came back into the Green Zone! We eventually rolled to a
stop, as I was informing the convoy commander what had happened. They
then hooked up a towing strap to us and pulled us back to our compound.
Everything was fine, but our pulse rate sure got up there for a couple
minutes.

Kris and I just wrapped up our Claymation camp at work this week. All of the kids were so much fun to work with and super creative. You can check out all of their hard work here. You can even hear what they thought of the project by listening to their Voice Thread slideshow! Now I'm going to go rest....Ha!

New Table

Brayden and I were blessed to have gotten this Little Tikes table from a local ice cream shop. They had replaced this with a wooden one and was giving this one away to a "good home". I think Brayden took the "good home" part to heart. He wanted to clean it the minute it got in the door. I must say it's sparkling now. Way to go, Mr. Clean.

Happy Father's Day

We love you, Daddy! We are counting down the days until your visit at Thanksgiving. Haley has a sweet list of things she wants to do with her daddy when he returns for a few weeks. We are proud of you! Keep up the hard work.

Hugs and Kisses,
Haley and Brayden

Haley makes frog cookies!

As a field trip follow-up to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Haley and I made cookie frogs. We saw lots of bullfrogs around the beautiful ponds. I think the thing we liked the most was to reminisce about our outing and God's wonderful creation. Haley did a great job. She is a good artist!
